So many beers so little time
I am constantly looking for new speciality brews at the store and resturants. It's fun to try something new, and maybe it will just trigger a good brew design of my own.
I found www.untappd.coma few years back. It is a web / app for social drinking. Just like foursquare and other geo location based apps you can check into or should I say 'drink up' to your brews. And you can follow the brewery, leave a comment, rate the brew and note your location. These are all great ways to help others find out about the beers and where they can purchased. Plus you find like minded beer enthusiasts.
Do you have another app or social tool you like? Where do you go to find your favorite brews?

Save the Drafts
With so much in today's world being overrun with social networks, TV, work and family it only makes sense to take a step back and enjoy your brews. It's now so easy to brew a batch. And really not too expensive.
My Scottish ale from July, cost Bout $40. That's all of the ingredients including the water. And I ended up with about 54 bottles in the end. You do the math! I'm getting ready to cook up another batch. And this time may opt for a keg. That means no more bottling and faster to service.
During my last visit to Southern Home Brew in New Smyrna Beach I spent quite some time talking with the owner. Some politics some product. But one thing caught my attention. Home brewing is alive and doing well. There are all kinds of brew, your typical stout, light draft, fruity, but did you know they make gluten free beer! And there are others supporting prostrate cancer research. All for a good cause. What's your favorite?
This month follow me as I bring this age old tradition to my garage. I would cook it in the house but sometimes the wife and kids don't like the smell of wort boiling on the stove. With just a few ingredients, a sterile set of equipment I'll be putting 5 gallons of beer into fermentation mode.
